Broadly speaking, there are two realms of existence. Namely; the material or physical realm, and the spiritual or invisible realm. Also, there are two sides to the spiritual realm: the realm of light and the realm of darkness. The spiritual realm controls the physical. Whatever happens in the natural or visible realm would have first taken place in the invisible realm of existence. With our five senses, we interact with the physical world, while, we make contact with the spiritual realm through faith.
For we walk by faith, not by sight.2 Corn 5:7
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.Romans 12:3
This scripture indicates that every believer has been given a measure of faith by God. Then, the big question is “what is faith?” God is a Spirit; he cannot be seen with our physical eyes. He is the invisible and immortal One. Faith is the door-way to the invisible realm, and so, without it we cannot effectively navigate the spiritual realm. “For without faith, it is impossible to please God”
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.Hebrews 11:1
Faith is the underlying principle of hope. Fundamentally, faith is belief and trust in God. A mere mental assent is not faith. Faith is stronger than mentally agreeing to the existence of something. Faith is much more than a strong opinion or belief because belief can change. On the other hand, faith is the absolute assurance that God is able to establish or perform what he has promised in His word. It is the complete trust in the invisible God and a deep conviction of the existence of the spiritual or invisible realm. Faith gives tangibility to hope. Hope is futuristic- a desire for something in the future; in contrast, faith says that the future is accessible now. Faith superimposes the spiritual realm over the material world. Faith is developed by what we hear. What we listen to shapes and molds us. Faith bridges the gap between your today and your tomorrow.
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.Romans 10:17
How can faith enable us to overcome life-challenges? How can we fulfill our divine mandate through faith? How can faith help me overcome depression, anxiety, grief, or a strong pull toward suicide? Developing and nurturing faith is our responsibility. Our faith can actually depreciate in the Spirit. It can slip off. It is possible to lose grip on one’s faith. This was why Jesus prayed for Peter that he would not lose his faith after the temptation. Jesus knew that humans are frail and are capable of losing a sense of direction or faith in the face of adversity. We can ask the Lord to increase our faith. For us to develop faith to overcome life issues, we must labor to internalize the word through confession and prayer.
Because we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.2 Cor 4:18
By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king; for he endured as seeing him who is invisible.Hebrews 11:27
Sadly, to humanity, reality means the visible realm. And so, we are locked to the material world -what we see, what we can feel, smell and taste have all blurred and limited our understanding of the meaning of life, Thereby, rendering us incapable of touching the invisible or spiritual realm where God dwells. The car we drive, the school we attend and etc have become our definition of reality of life.
The unseen realm cannot be seen with our physical eyes yet it exists. We are told in the above scripture not to focus on the physical or draw our inferences from it because it is a temporal and fading realm. God is eternal and so are we also.
There is a beautiful script written by God about you that you must locate. You are ancient like your heavenly Father. He has written scores of scrolls about you even before your physical birth to this world. The contents of these books are eternal. The onus is on you to find and acquaint yourself with this knowledge. Moses left Egypt unafraid because he had encountered the invisible one. Bear in mind, faith relates to the unseen realities. The Devil knows that humans are fixated with the physical and so he has craftily drawn a counter script for them, and that script is believable because, unfortunately, we have largely restricted our perception of reality to the natural existence.
To overcome issues of life, we must first overcome our focus and dependence on the physical. When you stop drawing inferences from the world and you disallow the world from defining your true identity, then, you begin to walk in the realm of dominion. When your world-view is no longer shaped by life obstacles and challenges; instead, by the efficacy of the infallible word of God, then, you are walking your way to victory.
