God has a pre-determinate purpose for creating the human race. This plan is ancient and stretches beyond a particular group of people called Christians. This is God’s foreordained or prescribed lifestyle for humans. God has a global plan for all of humanity. When he said “let us make Man in our image and likeness” He was referring to the entire human race. Everyone born to this world has a divine content. Ecclesiastes 3:11 states “he has put eternity in their hearts” in reference to humanity. God has the ability and infinite power to bring his counsel to pass. In his love, he had foreordained that humanity become a reflection of Christ.
Like I said in my previous article on OUR DOMINION MANDATE; Image as written in Genesis 1:26 speaks of the divine nature, the DNA of God being weaved into the fabric of human spirit and enabling our souls to bear divine fruits or Christ likeness. God’s DNA produces godlikeness.
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.Ephesians 1:4-5
God pre-determined in his loving purpose for humanity that we should be holy and faultless. He decided ahead of time to adopt us into the Godhead by making us sons and daughters. When he created Adam and Eve, he empowered them to rule and dominate the earth. Mankind was supposed to learn of God and acquire more of his divine nature by eating of the tree of life, the garden was meant to be humanity’s university to learn and grow in divinity. But Mankind ( Adam and Eve) failed and brought a curse upon the human race. A negative law become operational in the human soul called the law of sin and dead. This law operates whether you believe in it or not. The sin nature produces sin without your permission.
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. ¶ And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. ¶ and he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.Genesis 3:8-13
Adam and Eve were in a state of innocence; God’s glory was their covering. They had open access to heaven; they could have conversations with God freely. Sadly, their transgression brought about separation between them and God and consequently with mankind. The Father came down to have his usual conversation with Adam and called out to him but Adam was afraid, ashamed and hiding from God’s presence that was once his delight. “Have you eaten of the tree I commanded you not to eat from?” Adam responded in a way that shook the angelic host
“God it is your fault, the wife you gave to me caused me to disobey you; I would never have eaten from that tree if not for you”.
“Eve, what have done?” God inquired.
Eve responded, also by shifting responsibility and blaming the serpent.
“ it is the serpent that you created God! It was not my fault”
This was the origin of fear, shame, guilt, depression and all forms emotional disorder.
The fall of Adam and Eve was the fall of humanity. We became fragmented, that light that accompanied everyone coming to this world as stated in John 1:9 was switched off. We lost our compass for true life. We began to seek for relevance and significance from the external world. The journey away from God started and as the human soul traveled further away from God (its true source and origin) it began to acquire the nature of the earthly. As humans, we got locked up to the physical dimension- our perception limited to our five senses and incapable of discerning spiritual realities. The physical has shaped us; we draw our inferences from what we can see. Who we are, our identity is drawn from the car we drive, our family background, schools we attend etc. The media shapes our perception of reality as it defines for us an ideal man and woman. These perceived definitions become our standard for self-judgment.. Pretense, falsehood, manipulation all stem from this stream. Thank God who is rich in mercy has chosen in his benevolence and love to save humanity by sending his only Son to save us.
For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.Romans 5:6-10
Sin entered the world through one man- Adam and righteousness came into the lost world through Christ- the last Adam who is also a life giving spirit. Jesus is the author of humanity’s salvation. He came into this world to redeem humanity from the tyranny of sin and to deliver us from the sentence of death that was ushered in by Adam. So, technically, the entire human race is delivered from the power of sin. All that is required is for each individual to acknowledge Jesus’ sacrifice and recognize that apart from him, a person is incapable of overcoming the sin nature resident in the human nature. But when a person accepts Jesus Savior and Lord over his life, he or she receives the divine empowerment to triumph over the earthly.
As Christians, birthing your divine purpose means reclaiming God’s original intention for creating humanity which is conformity to the image of Christ which is finding your true and authentic self because your true life is hid in Christ in God.
